How to make a passport size photo from your phone
- Take or choose a photo. Face the camera, in good light, in front of a plain white or light wall.
- Line it up. Drag and zoom until your face fills the oval, eyes on the line, chin on the short line.
- Download. A JPG at the exact pixels and KB a form asks for, or a sheet of copies to print.
Good to know
- Private — your photo is processed by your own browser and never uploaded.
- Exact size for online forms — set the pixels and the KB limit the form gives; the photo is made to match both.
- Ready to print — a 4 × 6 inch photo with 8 copies of a 35 × 45 mm photo, or a full A4 sheet; cut along the grey lines.
- Check the form — requirements differ between offices and change over time; follow what your form says.
Photo too large for a form after all? Compress Image makes any photo smaller than a size you choose.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a passport size photo?
In Nepal and most countries it is 35 × 45 mm. The United States uses 2 × 2 inches. Online forms often ask for a size in pixels and a file size in KB instead; check the form, then set both under "For online forms".
How do I make a passport size photo from my phone?
Take a photo facing the camera against a plain, light wall, in good light. Choose it here, drag and zoom until your face fits the oval, with eyes on the line, and download.
Can I print it?
Yes. Download a print sheet: a 4 × 6 inch (10 × 15 cm) photo with several copies, which any photo shop prints, or an A4 PDF to print at 100% size. Cut along the lines.
Does it make the background white?
Not yet. Stand in front of a plain white or light wall; most forms ask for that anyway. Use the brightness setting if the photo looks dark.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your own device. Your photo is never sent to our server.
