What people use it for

  • Copying from notices — names, roll numbers and dates that come out garbled when copied straight from the PDF.
  • Searching and spreadsheets — tables come out tab-separated, so they paste cleanly into Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Feeding other software — Markdown keeps structure for websites, note apps and AI tools.
  • Converting Preeti — old-font documents come out as standard Unicode text.

Need this in your own program? The same conversion is available through the free API.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between plain text and Markdown?

Plain text is just the words, with table columns separated by tabs. Markdown also keeps headings and tables in a simple text format that many apps, websites and AI tools understand.

Why not just copy the text from the PDF?

In many Nepali PDFs, copied text comes out as the wrong letters or in the wrong order, even though the page looks fine. This tool rebuilds the correct text from the fonts inside the PDF.

Does it support Preeti and other old fonts?

Yes. Text in Preeti, Kantipur, PCS Nepali, Fontasy Himali or Sagarmatha is converted to standard Unicode Nepali.

Can I use this from my own program?

Yes. The same conversion is available as a free API; see the API page for details and examples.

Are my files safe?

Files are processed only to extract the text and are deleted straight after.
